The preparation of financial statements for your private corporation may be affected by the new "Canadian GAAP for Private Enterprises". Some private companies will need to make the decision on what accounting standards they will adopt, either Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises ("ASPE") or International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS"). Both standards will be effective for annual financial statements relating to fiscal years beginning after January 1, 2011. Canadian private enterprises need to make a choice very soon.
